Interesting story about how yet another traditional brick-and-mortar retailer, Nordstrom, is restructuring with a key focus toward the growth of it’s e-commerce business. They expect 30% of sales to come from the Internet in 10 years. They have a history of success so that is a good bet and chances are they’ll be at 30%+ before 10 years time. What’s even more interesting is the fact that they’re talking about their focus on business intelligence (i.e. “… customer analytics …”) to help them achieve their goals. It’s a clear sign of the progressiveness of their management team to understand that the data is a gold mine and if used wisely they can differentiate and reposition Nordstrom for more success.
