When you go through ScrumMaster certification one of the documents you receive is the Scrum Reference Card. At first glance one may not think that much of the document but it is an excellent resource no matter how long you’ve been working with Scrum. This is because Scrum, like most other management frameworks, requires adherence to a key set of principles in order to achieve the most value. While flexibility is essential to deal with the business environment, deviating from the tenants of Scrum can often lead to a watered down version which with all its pitfalls. So, keep the reference card handy at all times, review it periodically with management and your Scrum Team, and maintain flexibility while staying true to the framework.
Step 7 Consulting offers Project Management Consulting and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) Consultants. CSMs understand Scrum values, practices, and applications and provide a level of knowledge and expertise above and beyond that of typical project managers. CSMs act as “servant leaders,” helping the rest of the Scrum team work together and learn the Scrum framework. CSMs also protect the team from both internal and external distractions.
