Matthew is the driving force behind Step 7 Consulting. He brings more than 25 years of experience in engineering team leadership, SaaS architecture, enterprise systems development, banking and payments integration, and agentic AI workflow automation. Having founded two software-focused companies and spent a decade as a partner in a third, he’s had the opportunity to scale technology teams, lead delivery of mission-critical platforms, and provide guidance to clients across multiple industries.
His passion for using technology to solve real-world challenges has shaped Step 7’s mission — to help mid-market organizations connect their systems to banking and payments platforms, modernize how they operate, and apply AI where it delivers real business value. A strategic thinker, he’s known for bridging the gap between business and technology and ensuring his team executes against a clear roadmap.
What clients appreciate most is Matthew’s ability to make complex problems feel manageable. He brings clarity to fast-moving projects, listens closely, and ensures the solutions his team delivers fit both the strategic and technological goals of an organization. Whether he’s leading the team or helping a client navigate change, he approaches the work with a focus on long-term value.
Before founding Step 7, Matthew spent nine years in the corporate world with Boston Scientific and Nextel before leaving to found Ceviant, a venture-backed e-commerce startup whose platform powered hundreds of online businesses. He then spent 10 years at J Street Technology as VP of Software Development, leading the engineering team that delivered bespoke software for organizations including Microsoft, IKEA, and Teck Resources.
Matthew holds an MBA from Seattle Pacific University. Outside of work, he is a father of two, an avid cyclist, and a volunteer at FareStart.
